UPEN network expands with newest member Kew Gardens

Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, joins UPEN.

We are pleased to announce that Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, joins UPEN as the newest member of our network. Kew joins 120+ other universities, policy organisations and others who champion and strengthen the use of academic evidence in policymaking. The aim of the Science Policy team at Kew is to leverage their expertise to provide evidence-based advice, research, and training to influence and inform institutional, national and international decisions relating to conservation and the sustainable use of biodiversity.

On joining UPEN, Tom Livermore, Kew Head of Science Policy and UPEN Institutional Lead, said:

By becoming a member of UPEN, I hope that our team will benefit from being part of a network of experts whose work bridges the gap between research and policy. I’m particularly interested in learning how others understand their pathway to impact and how they quantify this impact.

Laura Bea, UPEN Head of Membership and Network Development, said:

We’re proud to continue expanding the UPEN community with the addition of Kew Gardens. The strength of the academic-policy engagement landscape is built upon collaboration and community, and our network is a prime example of what we can do together.

We encourage all our members to extend a warm welcome to Kew Gardens and new colleagues. Interested in working with Kew Gardens directly? Contact their UPEN institutional lead, Tom Livermore.
