Dr Dave Blackbell

Dave Co-Chairs UPEN’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Subcommittee with Olivia Stevenson and Laura Bea. Together, their interest is in drawing attention to the ways in which politics and power shape the production, mobilisation and use of knowledge – and the practical implications of EDI as a lens for surfacing and navigating these dynamics to enhance academic-policy engagement.

Dave is also one of the Co-Directors of the Scottish Policy & Research Exchange – an independent charity that exists to strengthen the capabilities of the research and governance communities in Scotland to engage with each other to meaningfully collaborate and to make decisions which centre equity. 

He is a knowledge mobiliser with a PhD in climate science and 10 years professional experience across environmental policy, policy-relevant climate mitigation research, and leading on knowledge mobilisation activities for multi-year, multi-£million, multi-disciplinary, and impact-focused research programmes.
