Nicky Buckley
Nicky is a Vice-Chair of UPEN, and a Co-Chair of the Areas of Research Interest (ARIs) sub-committee. She co-leads the UPEN project which develops ARIs with local, regional and devolved authorities.
Nicky directs the Policy Fellowships team at the Centre for Science and Policy, University of Cambridge and supports researchers in policy engagement.
Nicky was seconded to the Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology, 2022-23, to support Select Committees engaging with the academic community nationally. She was also an institutional lead for the Capabilities in Academic Policy Engagement (CAPE) project, 2020-24.
Nicky is interested in incorporating evaluation into professional knowledge brokerage work and has published a paper evaluating ‘Policy to Research’ Fellowships, written with Professor Kathryn Oliver.
Previously, Nicky was Head of Public Engagement at the University of Cambridge. She managed the annual Cambridge Science Festival and the Cambridge Festival of Ideas. She was Chair of Trustees, Cambridge Junction 2015-23.
