In 2016, the University of Huddersfield celebrated its 175th anniversary as an educational institute. It was originally established in 1841 to educate local working people, it has since grown into an award-winning university with over 23,000 students. In 2013, the University of Huddersfield was named University of the Year at the Times Higher Education Awards.
Our academic staff are continually rated as providing high quality teaching in an exciting and stimulating environment, and we are the UK’s leading university for the receipt of National Teaching Fellowships to mark Britain’s best lecturers in Higher Education for the past ten years. We are proud to have been recognised as a gold-rated university by the Teaching Excellence Framework. In 2017 we also won the first Higher Education Academy Global Teaching Excellence Award, recognising the University’s commitment to world-class teaching and its success in developing students as independent learners and critical thinkers
